I've devised the means by which I intend to study for either the PMI® CAPM® or PMP® exams in the
short term, and thought I'd share.
First and more nerdliciously, I intend to code information about the 42 project management processes
into halfgk.com.
I want to be able to ask my search engine, for example, "In which processes is the project
management plan an input?" and receive the response in the form of highlighted segments of the
process groups flowchart or the process groups grid, upon which the ITTOs may also be displayed.
Honestly, I figure that the act of building the thing will take me far in terms of the memorization
needed for either exam.
Secondly, I'm going to use the principles taught in the model for the project, and I'm going to
make the Internet my sponsor: I'll publish my reports in a reporting section of the new PM portion
of the site, so that I get experience in writing them and the one or two people who actually peruse
my site will be able to see them.
This will have two outcomes: (1) When I'm done, I'll have built a study guide of sorts, using
technologies I know and some I'll probably acquire in the process. (2) I'll have established PM
documentation that, while only used for this exercise, helps drive home the idea that I've at least
gained familiarity with the PMI project management concepts and seek to put them into practice.
